Event Recap from March 28, 2010

A Great Display of Endurance

We want to thank the forty dedicated Reach Riders, instructors and event organizers that put their stamina to the test while providing hope, care and compassion for families fighting cancer.

The first-time event raised nearly $5,000 that will go to support families fighting the overwhelming financial and emotional challenges of cancer. To view the great photos from the event on our Flickr site, please click the links below:

Finally, we would like to give special thanks to Lexie Dejewski, manager of the Parisi Fitness Center in Wayne, for her incredible leadership and support of the Reach Rider program and this event. Thanks for everything Lexiel!

Become a Reach Rider Fundraiser:

A Reach Rider is an individual who puts his or her strength and endurance to the test by participating in a special spin or other cycling event to support the mission of Family Reach Foundation. Some Reach Riders make extra efforts to support our mission by becoming a peer-to-peer fundraiser by also registering at Active.com and asking family, friends and businesses to sponsor them in a specific event. Your extra dedication as a peer-to-peer fundraiser will allow us increase the number of families we can help, and extend our reach as an organization. Family Reach will support you, promote you, share in your successes, and introduce you to some incredible families whose strength and courage will motivate you through every turn of the pedal.

To become a peer-to-peer fundraiser through one of our Reach Rider events, contact Carla Tardif at ctardif@familyreach.org.

Thanks for supporting our mission of helping families fighting cancer!

Families that Move Us

Harry, 2 years old,
San Francisco

Harry was just 10 months old when he was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. He underwent a successful bone marrow transplant a year ago and is doing remarkably well today! Family Reach helped the family with rent payments during Harry's treatments.

Kalo, 4 years old,
Boston

Kalo has been battling Leukemia since he was just 18 months old. He had a few short months of remission until he relapsed and is now awaiting a bone marrow transplant which will hopefully take place this month. Family Reach helped with first and last months rent to get Raquel and Kalo into a new clean apartment.

Joshua, 5 years old,
New Jersey

Joshua was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, rhabdomyosarcoma, when he was just 3.5 years old. He is one of four boys and mom and dad struggled to keep the family afloat as they cared for Joshua through his rigorous treatments. Joshua is now in remission and is getting back into life as a healthy kid! Family Reach helped with mortgage payments to ward off foreclosure.

Janelle, 14 years old,
New Hampshire

Janelle was diagnosed with AML Leukemia in July 2009 and has not left the hospital since her diagnosis. She underwent a stem cell transplant in the fall and is hoping for a cure. Family Reach foundation helped with rent.
