A Father and Family Stick Together Through the Cancer Storm
Nestor is a father of three. His oldest daughter is the light of his life and she has proven to be an inspiration to the entire family. Darlene is battling a rare cancer that showed up in her leg a couple of years ago. Since then she's had 14 operations, two of which were amputations. The cancer has now spread to her lungs, but this news is only going to make her fight harder. She is not going to let up.
Nestor lost his mother to cancer last month and hasn't even had time to cry for her loss because he is so focused on keeping Darlene on a fighting path.
To make matters worse, Nester lost his job in January 2009. He is almost one year behind on his rent and is barely making ends meet to keep food on the table and the heat and lights on in their humble apartment. Nestor was petrified to face his landlord because of the obvious pending threat of eviction. Many landlords would kick a family out for being so tardy on their rent payments, but when face to face with Nestor his landlord said he and his family would pray for them instead.
If you would like to provide additional help to Nestor's family, please contact Carla Tardif at ctardif@familyreach.org. |
