Family Reach Receives Major Donation of Pillow Pets™ to Support its Mission
Foundation Planning Large Promotion to Generate Funds for Families in Need
Parsippany, NJ – September 28, 2011 – Family Reach Foundation has received a donation of 6,200 Pillow Pets™ from its San Diego-based corporate partner My Pillow Pets® to generate thousands of dollars in donated funds to support the organization’s mission. Pillow Pets™ have become a global product hit, with 15 million sold in 2010 worldwide. Featuring 36 different animals to choose from, Pillow Pets™ offers children a super-soft stuffed animal with the functionality of a pillow.
“We could not be happier and more thankful for this generous donation from My Pillow Pets®,” says Carla Tardif, Family Reach Director of Development and Special Programs. “We are now considering a host of promotional initiatives to engage other partners who will help us bring Pillow Pets™ out to the community and raise charitable funds in return. They are a perfect fit for our mission.”
Family Reach and My Pillow Pets® began its charitable partnership in 2008 when Family Reach initiated its mission in San Diego, launching a relationship with Rady Children’s Hospital and serving as the beneficiary of the annual Flavors of the Gaslamp event hosted by Pro Player Foundation. Family Reach established a formal fund at Rady that can be used by oncology social workers to provide financial assistance to families with a child fighting cancer. Over the last four years, Family Reach has helped nearly 100 families in the San Diego area pay for everyday expenses that accumulate during a child’s treatment. My Pillow Pets® has donated hundreds of its popular items to Family Reach since starting its partnership with the organization and has sponsored multiple fundraising events on East and West coasts.
“We believe wholeheartedly in Family Reach Foundation’s mission, and are thrilled to be able to provide Family Reach with Pillow Pets™ in an effort to spread smiles to children battling cancer,” says Jennifer Telfer, President of My Pillow Pets®. “We applaud the tremendous amount of work being done by the Family Reach Foundation on behalf of these families.”
Family Reach and My Pillow Pets® leaders are evaluating a number of potential initiatives that will help create wide promotion of Family Reach’s cause, and capture monies that will be used to help families in multiple geographies. About Family Reach Foundation
Family Reach Foundation is a nonprofit organization providing financial relief and heartfelt support to families fighting cancer. The Foundation strives to reduce the often overwhelming financial and emotional burdens that families experience after a child or parent is diagnosed with cancer. Family Reach was originally founded in 1996 as a grassroots cancer support fund by the families of Christopher Colangelo and Kristine Morello-Wiatrak, who lost their battles against pediatric cancers in 1981 and 1995 respectively. Today, Family Reach works closely with leading cancer hospitals and their social workers to identify families in great need and provide timely, critical assistance. Over the last decade, the Foundation has helped more than 1,500 families pay for everyday expenses and medical costs that often accumulate during a patient’s battle with cancer including mortgage, rent, transportation and insurance co-pays. Based in Parsippany, NJ and Boston, MA, the Foundation has established a growing network of private and corporate supporters to fund the mission and play a meaningful role in the overall fight against cancer.
